The extended Davis family got together in New Orleans for my cousin Marcus' Bar Mitzvah.
Here's Grandma Selma (Mom's Mom), Steven, Grandpa Ed (Dad's Dad), me, and Grandma Doris (Dad's Mom)
at the Friday night "pre-party."

And afterwards, we went out for coffee and beignets at Morning Call. Here's Susan and Kevin gearing up for
sugary fried dough.

SUGARRRRRRR!!!

Three generations: Grandma Selma, Mom, Susan.

Bar Mitzvah action shot!

After the Bar Mitzvah wound down, we stopped by Grandma Doris and Grandpa Ed's house, which was fortunately
not damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Here's Susan picking a lime from Grandpa's lime tree, reenacting a scene from a
famous Davis family movie in which a 5 year-old Susan knocked herself over pulling an orange from one of Grandpa's trees.

We drove through the Lakeview area which was heavily hit by the hurricane and its subsequent floodwaters. Here's one
of many many rows of houses we saw which were completely destroyed.

Those rusty lines indicate the water level. Just about every house we saw in the flooded area had a water line
close to the top of its door. Crazy.

Back at Grandma and Grandpa's, Kevin enjoys his first ever piece of Doberge cake, a Davis family tradition.

Susan, why do you have so much silverware?

More beignets with Cousins Robert, Jason, and Melissa.

This is the point where the 17th Street Canal levee broke. The water that spilled from just this two block-long
break was enough to flood miles and miles of houses.

And Marcus climbing up to join him (parental /grandparental / aunt-al yelling to follow)

A bunch of stuff I found at Grandpa Ed's house, most of which belonged to my Dad:
Life Magazine special issue on the 1960s, NBA "hoop" magazine, Playboy Club-Hotels stationery and envelopes.
Playboy (Jan 1973), Official guide to Montreal's Expo 67, book of early stamps, VIP (winter 1972 Playboy Club magazine), and Playboy Club postcard.

More stuff from Grandpa: great jacket.

Nieuw Amsterdam cruise line windbreaker.

.22 caliber rifle.
