TUESDAY MARCH 7

Jim and Joe finding out about some gelato in Kyoto. I believe their respective flavor choices
were cherry and green tea.

Hey ladies...

Get funky.

The entrance gate at Kiyomizu (the temple of pure water), home to the best views of Kyoto imaginable.

Some schoolchildren checking out the beautiful scenery.

Me and Chikara on top of Kyoto.

Walking through the streets of Kyoto.

We drove back from Kyoto, rested up, and then went over to Club Flatt in the Shinsaibashi neighborhood
of Osaka. Chikara's friend Kango (pictured above), hooked us up with a DJ gig at the club. It was a
Tuesday night, so the crowd was kinda sparse, but either way, we had a flipping blast.
Dude. We got to DJ in Japan.

Two local DJs opened up the night spinning some hard and funky house, and then Grocery set it off with some
Eric B & Rakim "Follow the Leader," CB4 "Sweat From My Balls," Art of Noise "Beatbox" with Kelis "Milkshake"
acapella on top, and topped it off with "Tell Me When to Goooo!" I went on next and spun my first set using no
records, just Serato. This a) made it easier to travel without records and b) allowed me to spin music I've never
been able to spin before. I played lots of Litterthugz-related stuff like Reanimator and Jack Spaar, some
unreleased Doug beats, and the usual assortment of funky stuff.

Joe wrapped things up for our Gaijin DJ crew. We thought he was gonna spin as Kenny Kingston, but instead we
were pleasantly surprised to get a full dose of Bitch Ass Darius. He opened it up with Debbie Gibson "Only In My
Dreams" acapella on top of Jeff Mills "Higher State of Consciousness" and just whyled the eff out from there,
dropping all the ill Dancemania ghetto house joints we love, Three Six Mafia "Let Me See it" and more. All in all,
DJing in Japan was an amazing experience. Chikara's friends were so generous to give us the airtime at their party
and people seemed really responsive to and genuinely interested in what we were doing.
